Too Much Sunflower

YOU JUST HAVE TO LOOK

Mislead by the fortune
and prosperity of others,
you drown yourself
in self-pity,
lamenting about
your miserable fate
If you weren’t blinded
by unreasonable jealousy,
you would see that you are
BLESSED
Perhaps, you would notice
a homeless man
around the corner, or
the neighbor next door
fighting against
a terminal disease
BLISS
can be found
in the little things
all around you
You just have to
LOOK

The eyeless face

Curtains swaying,
something creaks,
slowly the window opens
I can’t move,
trapped
between the sheets of my bed
A hand reaching out,
closer
An eyeless face,
cold-hearted smile
He approaches,
no escape
I want to scream,
I can’t …
Soothing words,
awakening, eased
by mom’s warm embrace
