DS Maolalai

The shared spreadsheet

explained love
easily. she
sent it to me
two weeks early,
before
we’d made tracks
toward malaysia – a breakdown
in my simple
white person terms
of what exactly
the food would be like,
with some words I might need
in malay and mandarin,
and places
where I might want
to go.

it would prove invaluable
in the brief times
we’d steal together,
when we weren’t spending
all of our time
being asked about marriage
by her family.
